For comparisons sake you can scroll down and see how the 2010 foal weights compared with the previous year. It should be noted that we do our weights via a “weight tape”. In our estimation the taping is usually about 3-5% below the actual weights.
We weigh our foals daily for the first 30 days and then monthly until they are sold (usually as yearlings). Even if the actual recorded birth weight is slightly less than it should be we can monitor weight gain effectively. The weights recorded below are the “taped weights” and have not been adjusted.
15 filly avg: 108.33 lbs.
Range: 90 lbs.-130 lbs.
38 colt avg: 109.89 lbs.
Range: 88 lbs.-130 lbs.
41 non maiden foalings:
12 filly avg: 110.23 lbs.
Range: 93 lbs. - 130 lbs.

11 Maiden mares:
2 filly avg: 96 lbs
Range: 90 lbs. - 102 lbs.
